Has anyone ever checked out Jerry's autopsy? There's a great site for celebrity autopsies (Chickenhead.com) and they re-enact Jerry's using a Jerry Doll. The pertinent information as far as the speculation on arthritus or CTS, is that they found that all of Jerry's body was typical of a fat older male, except his fingers and forearms which were typical of an athlete, although the joints were inflamed.

The sad fact is that Jerry was physically falling apart all over his body due to drugs, decades of chain smoking unfiltered Camels and general bad habits, and he was probably in pain throughout his body at various times, also he felt obligated to keep touring to keep GDP and all of its dependants liquid, so he was unable to take time to heal. IMHO It's sad that even though everyone knew he was sinking fast, they kept trotting him out on the road.

Check out this link for the autopsy. (I love that they found a hotel room key [ they speculate that it's from Buffalo from 79-81, I wonder if its from the Shea Th show in 1-79 with the post drumd Dark Star?) , a bottle cap, a mascara brush {how do you swallow that??} and a pipe screen lodged in his intestine.... what a party animal...LOL)

Actually, a lot of folks (including Hunter) have commented upon the fact that Jerry's need to feed the beast (i.e. GDP and affiliated entities/folks) hastened his demise. I know of other artists who have taken that lesson to heart. So, just some info for you when you watch the Springer show. Perhaps another "retirement" would mean we could still be seeing the fat man. Who knows?

Don't SEE ANYTHING that has to do with entertaining the idea of viewing autopsy information.

And his will is on line too. Maybe you wanted to know what happened to some of Garcia's Grateful Dead stuff; but this autopsy garbage is sickening...

In my opinion, other than the fact the site uses a silly doll, the autopsy info is very interesting. I don't see that as exploitation at all (other than the annoying doll of course). Maybe i just watch too many CSI etall shows.
Lastcall, you need to seriously lighted up - if you want to know what "exploitation" is, check out ogrish.com - the most expoitative site on the net (not to mention the nastiest).

THIS IS A MUSIC SITE!

I don't need to read a dead man's autopsy or be referred to such gorish sites. Save it for the DISCOVERY Channel...

I apologize if I offended anyone, especially with my ill-advised commentary on the retrieved items. My original post was in response to speculations from the "State of the GD 1995" posts from the previous days that Jerry may have had arthritis or carpal tunnel syndrome and that may have explained his musical deterioration. My real point, which I failed to adequately articulate and was somewhat buried due to my commentary on the autopsy, was that Jerry was in horrible physical shape, and I believe the whole organization was aware of it and in spite of this, continued to schedule road trips, thus sealing his fate. Jerry was, after all, the cash cow (Don't forget, Bobby is worried that he may not be able to afford to send his kids to college). The autopsy just provides solid evidence of this, i.e. how his clogged arteries were narrowed to pinpoints. As Bluedevil so aptly pointed out in his post on this subject, if there had been a retirement, or at least less shows, we may still be able to enjoy the gift of Jerry's wonderful musical innovations to this day.

definitely RIP - if any artist has deserved everlasting happiness in the afterlife, it is Jerry :)
He gave so, so, so much, especially in his final years when it was sooooooo difficult. A generous artistic soul always has a place deep within my heart.
